Biography

Md. Kawsher Mahbub is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at NPI University of Bangladesh. He holds an M.S. in Computer Science from Kent State University. His research focuses on Artificial Intelligence, Computer Vision, and Medical Image Analysis, with an increasing emphasis on developing reliable and trustworthy AI systems. His current research interests include uncertainty quantification, out-of-distribution generalization, explainable AI, failure detection, and the evaluation and auditing of AI systems in high-stakes settings. His research experience spans deep learning and machine learning for medical imaging, particularly the analysis of radiological images, as well as broader research in reliable AI and computer vision. His work aims not only to improve predictive performance but also to understand when and why AI systems fail, how uncertainty can be quantified, and how model behavior can be evaluated and explained. He has published research in venues including Information Sciences, Expert Systems with Applications, IEEE CBMS, and Springer conferences. His ongoing research includes post-hoc uncertainty quantification, forensic explainability auditing, and trustworthy AI for vision systems.Beyond research, he has experience in university teaching, academic service, peer review, and research mentoring. He has served as a Program Committee Member for IEEE CBMS and ICANN and as a reviewer for journals in AI, medical imaging, and intelligent systems. He is interested in research collaborations and academic opportunities in Artificial Intelligence, Computer Vision, Trustworthy AI, Uncertainty Quantification, Explainable AI, and Medical AI.
