The university does much of its work through standing committees. Each is constituted under the Academic Council, keeps its own minutes, and reports to the authority that formed it. The committees currently constituted are listed below.
Disciplinary Committee
The Disciplinary Committee of NPI University of Bangladesh considers matters of student conduct referred to it and recommends action to the university authority. It exists so that complaints and allegations are examined by a standing body under a settled procedure, rather than case by case.
The committee ordinarily deals with:
Breaches of the university’s code of conduct and campus rules
Examination irregularities referred by the Controller of Examinations
Ragging, harassment and behaviour that affects the safety of others
Damage to university property
Appeals against disciplinary decisions taken at a lower level
How the procedure works
A matter reaches the committee through the Office of the Proctor or the Registrar. The student concerned is informed in writing of what is alleged and is given an opportunity to be heard before any recommendation is made. The committee records its findings and forwards its recommendation to the Vice-Chancellor, and the decision is communicated to the student in writing.
Making a complaint
Students, staff and guardians may raise a concern through the Office of the Proctor or the Office of the Registrar. Complaints are treated in confidence so far as a fair inquiry allows.
